No surprise here... In an environment where the wealthy continue to devour all the profit and store it away, rather than investing it, at the expense of development and education - it becomes increasingly easier to con the people into voting for those (Republicans and Neo-Con Dems) who continue this behavior while creating greater economic struggle for the population. The important thing to remember here is that it is not the fault of the politicians but the faults of the people who keep electing them. First, they take your education away and make you ignorantly believe their lies, then you vote for them. It’s a vicious circle...and it will continue until the people learn how to govern themselves - which will never happen when they are being kept ignorant, divided and distracted by petty, unimportant things like entertainment, celebrity gossip, pro sports and everything else that’s more appealing than politics. Sure, those things are nice, but they aren’t the priority - any more than ‘recess’ was the priority when you were in grade school. Do you let your kids blow off their classes and just focus on extracurricular activities and socializing in school or do you expect them to focus on their studies? It is well past time for the electorate to start being good students again. Entertainment is nice - until your irresponsibility leads to complete failure of the systems and structures that allow you to be entertained. Then, you are just left to sit around and suffer for being irresponsible. Don’t expect the wealthy to do that. They don’t have to. They’re not suffering and they make all the rules. Even that group is shrinking because they are grossly irresponsible. There is no avoiding responsibility without paying dearly for it later. We certainly don’t need leaders that are going to jeopardize the future of our nation by doing selfish, irresponsible things. Do your part and make sure that doesn’t happen - but make sure you know what you are doing first! We should take care and ensure that we are part of the solution, not part of the problem.
