I'd have to say...this is fairly 'spot-on'... (Beware!) (y)

I'd have to say...this is fairly 'spot-on'... (Beware!) (y) - As any long-time reader of this column knows, we routinely draw from historical lessons to highlight that this time is not different. Throughout the 18th century, for example, France was the greatest superpower in Europe, if not the world. But they became complacent, believing that they had some sor…

Brilliant! Someone else gets it! This has finally made it to the media, though, maybe not mainstream media. I believe that, as soon as more people see this, it will absolutely make it to the MSM. Pray that it does! It is Truth... Now, for those of you who have not quite caught up on history (and may, in fact, be dooming the rest of us to repeat it)...here it is. Do yourself a HUGE favor - and watch it. This could be the best, most reliable education you will get for the remainder of your lives, with regard to this issue:

Springtime in the South Atlantic -

It won't be long now! (y)

It won't be long now! (y) - Yesterday, J.J. Abrams and Stephen Colbert went on a stage to host the Celebrity Nerd-Off at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. They didn’t reveal anything new about the film itself, but they did drop one bit of news: The Force Awakens is now complete.

...because, you know...NASA won't be saying anything about it. ;) Props to Neil deGrasse Tyson for boldly going where no one has gone before. (y)

This is a bit sad... On the other hand, it's interesting from a scientific perspective and could also be valuable from a medical perspective. They identified that this is caused by a virus but have determined it isn't likely they can treat the starfish, since "diving into the ocean with a bunch of tiny syringes to inoculate sea stars isn’t a feasible idea, though it is an adorable thought." but...what if they researched alternative ways to treat these starfish? Maybe it could lead to a new method of delivery for human (or other biological) treatment...say, rather than slipping dangerous things into the water supply, they could fortify the water with beneficial things like...cures for cancer or the flu? Maybe they could start with a product that is innocuous when added, only becomes active when it combines with human (or other) DNA and will only activate in a way that is beneficial for fighting disease. Sure beats stuff like this wasting disease! (I'm just thinking out loud...) ^_^

The public complains about how computer gaming desensitizes people to violence - and then they go and turn combat into a video game. There is no honor, justice or any other redeeming quality in it...and it certainly isn't leading by ethical or moral example. They'd better just remember how lucky they are that they got there before the 'enemy' did, because you know they'd be screaming 'war crime' if they didn't (and they'd better hope that luck doesn't run out or the advantage doesn't become common technology - which is inevitable)! If they were wise, they'd be grateful they developed the tech first, bury it so nobody could turn it against them and thank the heavens they're still alive and have a choice... ;) (y)

Sometimes, I just have to sit back and wonder who is doing more damage to America. Is it the people who are frightened and clueless who have never been out in the world, who have never driven past the Mall at the borderline of the city they grew up in, who have lived their entire lives inside the little 'bubbles' of their own communities. Is it these sheltered people who say the most foolish things because they are so unaware of the 'bigger world'...who say things while safe in their 'enclaves' that they don't worry about saying (or have to answer for) because they are so far removed from the reaction it causes - for now - but that cause others to want to come to their 'enclaves' and create terror (the very thing they are afraid of), things that they learned through the talking heads on TV who were put there to program them so they would fall in line with a government that is invading other countries for nefarious reasons and lying to their own people to gain their support (Iraq/South America/etc.)? Or is it 'the terrorists'? And who, exactly ARE the terrorists? Are they the people who react to being slaughtered in their own countries by an imperialistic government trying to 'spread democracy' or for the sake of preventing WMDs (a lie perpetuated by a US President named George Bush Jr.). Are they people who had their country invaded by people who set up a country within it (Israel), people who were slaughtered wholesale and begged for outside intervention during their time of need (the Holocaust) that have now turned around and become the slaughterers and who tell us that the people they slaughter are the real terrorists - even though they have become terrorists, themselves? Would we have believed the Nazis if they did this? I think not. It seems to me that we helped the Jews - who were being repressed by the Nazis - but now, we are turning our backs on everyone who is now becoming repressed. Are we the 'new Nazis'? It is all about cause & effect, folks. Sure, the people who have caused terror in the world have made a lot of mistakes - but so has everyone else, including great, historic, imperialistic nations. This is a human condition - not a 'terrorist' one. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, they say. Guerrilla warfare is nothing more than the evolution of revenge by the oppressed who do not have a standing army to force others to accept their will. Terrorism is a continuation of that evolution. As long as you have people doing wrong to others, there will always be victims looking for more and better ways to exact their revenge - whether they are huge nations with standing armies or a single human with a suicide vest on...and rest assured - the former is a lot easier to stop than the latter. If you want to be honest and understand truth, you have to know two things... First, you have to go back to the beginning to understand - all the things that happen and are happening...do so because of things that came before them. You cannot go back to the point in history that suits your narrative, religious 'flavor' or mental capacity (or the lack thereof) and start from there. It isn't honest or fair and it isn't going to address the problem correctly - it is going to make things worse. For example, if you go back 7 months, Israelis look like psychotic fascists...but if you go back 70 years, they look like victims. And second, you must understand that, despite the past, there will continue to be cause and effect, there will continue to be tit for tat, there will continue to be 'you murder me - I murder you'...until people start being fair and realistic, accept responsibility for their part in this ever-cycling battle of ignorance, pull their heads out of their collective asses and decide they want to live in a better, more peaceful world - start fresh and build something greater. You know, like the people who built and supported the great nation we now live in did...so long ago...and which we are destroying by allowing the world's issues to drag us back into that ever-cycling battle of ignorance. How about we start showing the world what made America strong again...and try not to end up like so many other failed nations that will never dig themselves out of the endless mess they repeatedly put themselves in? How about we stop putting ourselves in this situation by being foolish and dishonest to ourselves and others? I think that would be a great place to start... (y)

A Brighter Moon

A Brighter Moon -

Many people know me but few know how deeply the following matters cut into my soul. Fewer still know that I stay awake until the sun comes up most nights, unable to sleep and dwelling on these matters that have plagued me all my life (but mostly since I served in the military), because there is never an end to them and because - what good is building a beautiful life, home or family in a neighborhood that is located in a world that is on fire? Sometimes, I admire people who can just ignore these things but, mostly, I just pity them. If you truly want to know me better, keep reading. If not, so be it. I hope we can still be friends. ^_^ (y) There are many reasons that people like to believe they are doing the 'right things' - yet, life still continues to be miserable for said people. Often times, it is because they are so good at deceiving themselves. There are two ways to do that: Believing in things that are not true...and NOT believing in those things that are. All humans, regardless of 'polarity', seem to struggle with this - whether they pray to "Al lah" (literal translation: 'The God') or whether they prefer the 'Christian God' - whom are one and the same; At least, they should be to all who believe in a monotheistic, Abrahamic God. Few ever bother to do the research to find out truth. Instead, they prefer to jump on the 'social posturing bandwagon' with the uninformed, indoctrinated masses claiming to know what did, what is and what will happen for the sake of their own local popularity...whether that locality is Baghdad or Birmingham. Nowhere else is this more foolish and fatal to humanity than when regarding war. Unfortunately, many people who served in the military and survived, those who are well-informed, honest, not bigoted, are diligent and/or skilled enough to find out for themselves (not nearly enough people, unfortunately) have to tolerate the idiocy of people who do not know what they are talking about while they repeatedly attempt to explain how and what they do know...to those who already clearly know the sad truth - a truth being made more sad by the very perpetuation of their misguided understanding. This only further aggravates the problem...and the world spirals into chaos. The war in Iraq was unjust and based on a lie, unilaterally begun in spite of worldwide resistance - not to mention - begun before ending the true war in Afghanistan, which was multilateral and justified. The war in Iraq was also a failure - just like Afghanistan was, as a result of being interrupted and having the mission distracted by having to focus on the travesty that was the Iraq war. Further aggravating the sheer idiocy begun (and horribly/fatally mismanaged) over the past 15 or so years was the real truth that it all led to (and even enabled) the foundation of ISIS - something that, primarily, the US but also several other western leaders like to blame on others but are, themselves, responsible for. When folks are ready to stop believing what they hear, what makes them popular with their 'friends', what they are told to believe or what they choose to believe because it seems to be more convenient or popular within their 'local culture' - even though things are not getting better, maybe they will seek a better answer. By the way, a war cannot be fought against an idea. Despite WW1 being called the 'War To End All Wars' and even Osama BinLaden being killed along with al Qaeda being all but decimated....Here we are - still trying to fight an 'idea' - a war on terror, something that will never go away, and still failing miserably. It's time to wake up...while there's still something to wake up to. Here is the truth:

Veiny 'Garden City' Site and Surroundings on Mount Sharp, Mars

Veiny 'Garden City' Site and Surroundings on Mount Sharp, Mars -

Sure...because being a greedy, selfish idiot is much more important than the welfare and future of the entire human race. I wish all these people well in the future when they are no longer able to find anyone to get their hands dirty for them so that they can sit back and hoard all the money, comfort and arrogance...while the people they walk all over (and depend on) continue to suffer. Now, who is the fool? Life is balance - and these greedy, soulless people know nothing of balance. In the world I prefer to live in (and all truly do, they just don't have the capacity to admit, believe in or sacrifice for it), people don't sit back doing for themselves while those who are unable (and rarely out of choice) suffer. The world I choose to live in is one where people do for one another - the world we used to live in when we were younger and actually had morals and ethics - the one we have drifted so far away from - and the one we will return to...or suffer the extinction of our species. If we do for ourselves, many will suffer because they cannot survive...which will cause endless calamity - even for those who can. The evidence is all around you. If we do for each other, all are taken care of and we can remove suffering, calamity and misery from society. It is not a matter of whether this is true or not - it is a matter of whether this is true under our current systems which, sadly, are created and managed by the wrong people. People who support the idiots at Fox News and these greedy, soulless people who know nothing of balance. Maybe if these gold-diggers weren't so distracted by shiny things (like brainless monkeys), they would be able to figure out the things in life that are truly important. It's all just a matter of perspective, though, ours has a future...and theirs does not. At any rate, my time is short here...best of luck to all the 'geniuses' who have totally lost touch with their humanity. ;) You are not my problem...you are your own problem. Psychedelic Pluto

Psychedelic Pluto -

This is the spirit of a champion... I've never seen an example or heard a better explanation of devotion to duty and to one's fellow man than I have heard come from the lips of this incredible human being. It doesn't get any more real than this. I may have done my part, but can only wish I would have had half the opportunity to serve the US Army in the capacity you did. Wherever you may be, MSG Benavidez - you have my utmost respect. (y) (Thanks for sharing this, Jon de la Luz!)

Here's a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of science and the Universe: ^_^ (y) "NASA TV airs a variety of regularly scheduled, pre-recorded educational and public relations programming 24 hours a day on its various channels. Programs include "NASA Gallery", which features photographs and video from NASA's history; "Video File", which broadcasts 'b-roll' footage for news and media outlets; "Education File", which provides special programming for schools; "NASA Edge" and "NASA 360", hosted programs that focus on different aspects of NASA; and "This Week @ NASA", which shows news from NASA centers around the country. Live ISS coverage and related commentary is aired daily at 11 a.m. EST and repeats throughout the day. The only thing wrong with 'killing yourself to live' is that you're killing everyone else, as well. I witnessed this first-hand in China, where factory owners willingly pollute the environment so they can buy Mercedes Benz's for their families and friends...meanwhile, none of them will live long enough to get to enjoy them. This issue is no different, really - it's just a little bit slower (a matter of scale) when you add the entire environment into the mix (including areas in other nations that are unable to be regulated by our nation), rather than just being concerned with our own local area...something this petition is working to change and which we haven't even addressed yet, in favor of arguing whether this is a 'real thing' or not. It is - Aask any renowned scientist you can find - they will tell you and, for Christ's sake...stop asking politicians! What do you expect them to say? The only ones who will admit this do so to win campaigns (like Hilary Clinton, etc.). I'd like to breathe clean, fresh air - at least - until I am no longer alive and...ideally, I'd like my descendants to be able to do the same thing. What do you say we act, make this man-made disaster go away and make that possibility as much a reality as we are able? We already face natural disaster, which we are powerless to avoid. That's enough of a challenge... Sign the petition...please! It's a step in the right direction. (y) http://ift.tt/1UUypK6 http://ift.tt/1M063tW

Hilarious! (My, how far off track we've gone...) ^_^ (y)

Orion Service Module Stacking Assembly Secured For Flight

Orion Service Module Stacking Assembly Secured For Flight -

So, with banks, churches and schools on every corner of the city (common across most of Texas), you'd think that things would turn out differently in Houston - especially since it has an openly gay mayor and is widely known as one of the most international cities in the US. However, when the banks have little or no ethics, the churches often have no tolerance, compassion or even intellectual honesty and the schools are pitifully mismanaged, underfunded, curriculum is dumbed down and they're staffed with victimized martyrs who burn out much faster than they study to become teachers, etc. - is it really a surprise to see things like this? I think no...and I also think it's way past time that something be done about it. To be fair, it's not just a Houston-centric problem but, in this case, they get to bear the brunt. I think they should do much better! I don't live there anymore...but I might like to again, one day. I guess we'll see what happens! (y)
