I suppose it isn't very useful to mention that I'm an INFJ type personality (Myers-Briggs) and among a very slight 1% of the global population, but I think it's useful to note that one of the greatest strengths of the healthy INFJ is their ability to forecast future events with only a small amount of sensory data. Having said that, I notice things that many people may not notice until later (sometimes, too late, in fact). Perhaps, the reason that things don't go according to plan is that so many people are short-sighted. While it may be true that we don't know what will happen in the future, there is little doubt that the future will become the present and, eventually, the past. For that reason alone, it isn't very wise to 'sell the cow for a handful of beans when you can keep the cow and sell the milk perpetually'. Patience is a virtue, as is strategic, long-term planning. Maybe it is time that people disconnect themselves from the habits of instant gratification. What may benefit one in the short term may wind up costing them dearly in the long term. It may also end up costing our nation (and the planet) dearly, as well. ;)

Awesome content! 😊👍 - Logic.”) Although this distinction between broadly “theological” and broadly “scientific” thinking may not map directly onto the modern schism between “Continental” and “Analytic” philosophy, a comparison still seems highly relevant.

There's nothing like PTO on your Birthday! :D -

While I don't care much for the title of this article, it is very much a well-written one... I have nothing against patriotism when it is an indication of being proud of one's heritage (which, to be honest and much like having blue eyes or red hair, are things people don't aspire to but, rather, have acquired by chance and geographical 'fate'), but I am not at all a fan of nationalism. Nationalism is ridiculous for the simple facts that, as mentioned before, it is a matter of chance and also because we all share this Earth - one created without borders and boundaries - and should not look for more reasons to set ourselves above or apart from other humans on the planet. This, I believe, will become much clearer (if it hasn't already) to people as transportation, communications, technology and other advances in human intelligence become more pervasive and finely developed. Ideally, we should be working together to make this world a batter place; Something that cannot happen when we look for more reasons to divide ourselves. It is especially troubling when what has historically passed for patriotism starts turning into something a lot more like nationalism. This seems to be a facet of the effects of Conservatism and the antithesis of efforts by Progressives. Maybe it is a good time to take another look at this thing we like to call 'patriotism'. ;)

I am neither a Communist nor a Capitalist, since I believe that the ideal system for successful human life (for all people) consists of a balanced measure of both these things...Communism and Capitalism, given that Capitalism has become little more than 'white-collar crime and hedonism' and Communism is, largely, a path to creating a vacuum of leadership often and soon inhabited by dictators. I am also neither a Conservative nor a Liberal, since I believe that, for the most part, Conservatives are trying to capture the past in a sustained moment or 'stop time' (an impossibility - since life is dynamic by nature) and Liberals are often uninterested in personal responsibility (often, a mask for hedonism, as well) and the rule of law (sound ethics - something thrown under the bus a long time ago) since the lack of ethical debate has stifled our ability to dynamically update legal system - and 'religion' (something of a Conservative effect, as well). I am a thinking man - a philosopher - a Progressive. After all, if we are not making progress (for example, being stuck in an endless standoff between two failing systems - Capitalism and Communism) then what, in fact, are we doing? I suspect we are doing nothing of value and nothing that will result in effective change. Having said this, here is an article that I would suggest everyone read - despite the brainwashing people in the West may have received in a Capitalist, Conservative classroom and while tempering themselves...if they are prone to radical Liberalism. There are good things here - truths that cannot be denied. However, there is still the fact that this is not the answer to all things - it is merely an important part of the discussion that can, in my opinion, lead to more effective, progressive change. What do we lose by reading? Who knows, we may even have an epiphany! ;)

A great article! Finally, someone has written something which has vaguely defined a specific and important 'counterculture' of people; Those who are not seeking the limelight - as it should be - while 'going against the grain' of popular opinion. Many of these people are in prominent positions but have eschewed the limelight in order to prevent sending the wrong message. They also have the ability to debate reasonably and in a dignified manner (the very thing that produces ethics) that many people these days do not. There are too many people out there already who have destroyed the public interpretation of their perspective, as well as their reputations, by trying to gain popularity while being dismissive and argumentative. President #45 is a prime example. The reason this is so important, these days, is because 'popular opinion' (and especially ethics) has become victimized by those who seek to redefine what is truth / news - and have largely done so for the sake of self interest, personal gain and/or self preservation (to save their own asses or to be popular). In the case of religion, this has been true for quite a long time...but that is merely a small part of the wide range of subjects about which these people have been debating (quietly). And they are gaining allies very quickly... I have always been this way, but I shouldn't have to say this to anyone who knows me well. I'm sure it is quite clear - from the US to China. Fearless - but not foolish 😊👍 Read the article!
