I've been saying this for over a decade: Globalization was (and is) the right idea and something that needs to (and will inevitably) happen if the world is ever going to find balance but, rather than happening by design - was woefully mismanaged and realized through greed and profit, the very things that turn capitalism into white-collar crime. This is the reason for the reversal - and the 'temporarily' failure. Make no mistake, though...it WILL happen (or we will annihilate each other. Nations which have been doing so well for so long (and treating the world's resources as disposable) will have to learn to deal with less while those who have suffered and starved, had no access to healthcare, education, jobs, justice, etc. will see those things improving. I just hope people realize it needs to be planned and managed ethically, fairly and in a way that is beneficial for all nations involved - rather than continuing as a violation of sovereignty, 'nation building', power-tripping, and as a windfall for those who wish to exploit those nations who are in dire situations who have no choice but to submit (as it has been, thus far, and is the very reason for failure). At what point is something called a 'privilege'? Is it when, through fair, honest and ethical trade, one lives in a nation where economic prosperity is a regular occurrence? Is it when people have the privilege of living in a nation which exploits millions of people worldwide in order to retain economic strength and advantage - even at the cost of several million lives - when it would be far better to turn these nations and people into productive members of the planet? I would not call that a privilege, I would call it murder. Try focusing on this perspective (truth) while you read the following article - and it may make a lot more sense. ^_^ ...and 'check your privilege'.

How had they got it so wrong?
