Here's Something that's been released by J.R.R. Tolkien's son, Chris, for his Father's fans...an excerpt from The Silmarillion (which, admittedly, is a very hard read). In addition, there's a video at the end of this link describing a bit of his dad's history. Many people may not be aware that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote much of what later became The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit while in the midst of The Battle of the Somme, where a million and a half British soldiers died. He was the only survivor between himself and his two friends who enlisted. Anyway, this is a much happier story... ^_^
