So, with banks, churches and schools on every corner of the city (common across most of Texas), you'd think that things would turn out differently in Houston - especially since it has an openly gay mayor and is widely known as one of the most international cities in the US. However, when the banks have little or no ethics, the churches often have no tolerance, compassion or even intellectual honesty and the schools are pitifully mismanaged, underfunded, curriculum is dumbed down and they're staffed with victimized martyrs who burn out much faster than they study to become teachers, etc. - is it really a surprise to see things like this? I think no...and I also think it's way past time that something be done about it. To be fair, it's not just a Houston-centric problem but, in this case, they get to bear the brunt. I think they should do much better! I don't live there anymore...but I might like to again, one day. I guess we'll see what happens!
